Global Economy Far Worse Off Than Previously Thought, IMF Predicts
The International Monetary Fund forecasts that economies hit by COVID-19 are in more trouble than previously forecasted. NPR's Lulu Garcia-Navarro and Jim Zarroli speak with the IMF's Gita Gopinath.
LULU GARCIA-NAVARRO, HOST:
This crisis like no other will have a recovery like no other - that from our next guest, the chief economist of the International Monetary Fund. In the wake of this pandemic, the IMF says the global economic outlook is far worse than previously thought, and recovery will take a lot longer. For those living in poor countries, that will mean greater income inequality, more debt and more poverty. Gita Gopinath is the chief economist for the IMF, and she joins us now.

Software piracy protection system
The goal of developing this project is to prevent software piracy and improve protection and security measures for software. Piracy is one of the biggest threats in the industry. Hackers use malware and malicious code to gain access to software products/systems, thus, putting at stake the entire security infrastructure of a company. As a result, it is pivotal to incorporate the necessary measures and protection systems to uphold the integrity of data as well as the copyright rights of software products.

Android task monitoring
This project is exclusively designed to simplify the tracking and monitoring of day-to-day activities of the busy modern life. We are so busy in our daily lives right now that it becomes impossible to keep track of our daily events, meetings, and appointments. To address this issue, this project focuses on developing a Weekly Task Alerting System for Android devices that can alert users of the tasks/appointments that are scheduled for each day in a week.
The project is primarily a reminder app powered by an AI chatbot that reminds users of all the tasks that are due daily. Users can use this application to set goals and achieve them, thereby increasing productivity and simplifying their lives.

Social distancing brought mighty economies to their knees
The entire world's economy has shrunk dramatically. The pandemic delivered the most severe blow to the U.S. economy since the Great Depression as gross domestic product collapsed and millions of jobs were lost.
"This recession was by far the deepest one in postwar history," Richard Clarida, vice chair of the Federal Reserve, noted in a speech.

End of globalization?
President Trump's "America First" strategy of the last four years had increased tensions between the United States and the rest of the world, specifically China. It was already leading to friction in the smooth supply-and-demand economic chain that has been the hallmark of an interdependent global world. But the self-isolation during the pandemic could mean the end of globalization as we know it.
Some people worry that this moment is strengthening the hand of nationalism that was rising before the pandemic and that it is accelerating the changing relationships between countries.

You're Not Welcome Here: How Social Distancing Can Destroy The Global Economy
It's what people are being asked to tell each other. Less than 10 days ago, London banned people who live in different households from meeting each other indoors, to stop the spread of the coronavirus.
"Nobody wants to see more restrictions, but this is deemed to be necessary in order to protect Londoners' lives," London Mayor Sadiq Khan told the London Assembly.
Taking away the welcome mat is key to cutting off the path of the coronavirus. From the beginning of the pandemic, cities, states and countries have banned each other. And now, eight months into lockdowns that have led to immense stress and fatigue among people, some places around the world are introducing even more draconian measures.
The path toward recovery continues to be inherently antisocial and runs counter to how humans interact, live lives, and conduct their business. This unwelcome policy — which has already harmed families, societies and economies — has the potential to lead to a tectonic shift in how the world functions in the foreseeable future.

The Influenza (Flu) Virus
The Influenza (Flu) Virus
Next to the common cold, influenza or "the flu" is perhaps the most familiar respiratory infection in the world. In the United States alone, approximately 25 to 50 million people contract influenza each year. The symptoms of the flu are similar to those of the common cold but tend to be more severe.
Fever, headache, fatigue, muscle weakness and pain, sore throat, dry cough, and a runny or stuffy nose are common and may develop rapidly. Gastrointestinal symptoms associated with influenza are sometimes experienced by children, but for most adults, illnesses that manifest in diarrhea, nausea, and vomiting are not caused by the influenza virus though they are often inaccurately referred to as the "stomach flu."
A number of complications, such as the onset of bronchitis and pneumonia, can also occur in association with influenza and are especially common among the elderly, young children, and anyone with a suppressed immune system.

COMPUTER SCIENCE VS. SOFTWARE ENGINEERIN
Those interested in a career centered around software development and computer technology often focuses on one of two majors: computer science, or software engineering (sometimes referred to as software development, although the two are not synonymous). To be sure, earning an accredited degree in either of these fields will likely prepare a student for a variety of software-related roles.
However, while these two fields of study have certain similarities, they are not one and the same; in fact, they have many subtle and obvious differences that set them apart. To better understand the distinctions, please read through our basic introduction and then see our side-by-side comparison below.

Cooperative Learning
Carefully structured cooperative learning groups in which each student is assigned a role and has clear expectations for desired outcomes are very helpful for students with ADHD. The more structured the cooperative activity, the more likely it is that these students will succeed.
